I Hate Toyota - My Story. What's yours?                                      Minimize

As I sat in the Toyota waiting room, waiting for my car to be fixed, again, only to find out that the problem wouldn't be covered under Warranty, again, I decided to start this website.  Having problems is ok, I think, but I wonder: am I the only one being talked down by the good people of Toyota?  Maybe it was just this location, right?  No!  This was the third state, with the same treatment and complaint!

This wasn't an old car.  I bought my Sienna new in 2004.  It kept breaking.  The head tech in AZ actually told me "You shouldn't buy a new car if you can't afford to maintain it".  The guy in UT said "You shouldn't drive your car so hard" (It's my wife's car!).  On the third year, the guy in MN said "yeah, we actually have seen this problem before, but there is nothing we can do...  And no, this is not covered by the warranty".

Toyota later recognized the problem to be theirs (!!) and had a recall, but paid only 25% of what I had spent out-of-pocket.  This is just a short summary of the story, being stepped in the head at each step.

Toyota, do you have to be so smug?  Do I have to beg to be treated with respect?  Am I the only one experiencing this?  No wonder all the press around the latest recall.  I heard so many good things about Toyota (that's why I bought one).  Am I the only one that feels I need to tell my story, to warn others?  Well, I built this website so that YOU can tell your story too.  I hope it  helps you feel better, and I hope that we can help tell the other side of the story.

I bought a new Rav4 in May. They tried to sell me a security thing that had already been etched on my windows. I told them no. When I got home and looked at the invoice, they snuck it back on. I wrote and asked them to mail me a check and then refused. If you buy one of these, the sales people aren't the most honest people. CHECK your final invoice. I imported my Toyota Sienna from the US to Canada in 2008. Prior to importing it, I had purchased a Toyota Truestart battery at the dealership. This battery is suppose to have an 84 month warranty. Well, the battery failed now, with it 26 months old. I called Toyota USA to ensure I could use the warrenty in Canada and they stated I could. I brought it to Toyota here in Canada, paid $60 for them to confirm that the battery was no good. Then they said it would be $180 for a new battery and they would not warranty the old battery. Here is there list of excuses: 1) Toyota USA warrenty not valid in Canada (not true, as per previous phone call) 2) It was not a Toyota Battery (I had the invoice and the battery says Toyota on it) 3) They cannot confirm the warrenty. So went home without a battery and called back Toyota USA. They then told me I had to call Toyota Canada, which I then called. Toyota Canada yelled at me, saying that its not up to them and Toyota USA shouldn't be telling me to

I bought a new 2010 Matrix. Trying to conserve gas. They messed up my carpayments and I had to return for them to correct it. The finance guy was great. I was told the extended warranty on my trade in could be refunded. Now today I receive a statemnet saying they can't locate any such refund and they sent my request papers back. Although may car is to new to have any troubles, I don't feel like the company does a lot to sell trust. They found my extended warranty previously when I took my car in to get repaired. Only to l
